Archives Oracle announces internet pagers, June 18, 2000 - Oracle Corporation announced the launch of a new service that will enable the customers to access the Internet using the two-way pagers. The service will essentially be free to customers and revenues will principally come from fees for hosting the service and from site advertising. Texas Instrument would be acquiring Burr-Brown - This acquisition is likely to fill in a significant gap in TI’s analog chip product range and would considerably strengthen Texas Instrument’s current market position as a supplier of chips that are used in a vast array of communication equipment, computer devices and latest wireless digital products Kingsoft, a major Chinese software firm has announced the launch of iWPS application that will enable computer users to surf the Internet in much easier, faster and more secure way. This is development is quite significant to m-commerce activities as iWPS will support internet access through mobile phones, personal digital assistants and two way pagers. IBM has introduced a small one-gigabyte hard drive that will triple the storage capacity of mobile computing devices like personal digital assistants and digital cameras. The new drive can also as data-exchange accessories to desktop computers and printers. Two major Scandinavian banks, Nordic Baltic Holding of Finland and SEB Group of Sweden announced that will be offering wireless banking to quite a few of their customers using a software developed by Tantau Software Inc. an Austin based software firm.
